Jharkhand is a state situated in the Eastern part of India. The name Jharkhand means " The Land Of Minerals". It is the 28th state of the united India came into existence on 15 November 2000, by the Bihar Reorganization Act - on the birth anniversary of the legendary Birsa Munda. The state share its boundaries with the states like  West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Orissa. The capital of the state is Ranchi and Dumka is the sub capital while Jamshedpur is the largest and biggest industrial city of the state. The state is also known for its climatic conditions like the waterfalls, temples and the wildlifes like elephants and tigers. The state holds the economy of about ₹ 3.83 lakh crore, the per capita income of ₹ 79.873.

HISTORY Of JHARKHAND


The movement of the seperate state of Jharkhand spread over century which is tracked back to early 1900s. Jaipal Singh, an Indian hockey Caption and Olympian gave the idea of a seperate state consisting of south districts of Bihar. The idea came into existence on August 2, 2000 when the Parliament of India passed the Bihar Reorganisation bill to create the state of Jharkhand by carving 18 districts out of Bihar to form Jharkhand state on 15 November 2000 and finally Jharkhand became the 28th state of India. 
According to some historians, there were already a vast geo-political, cultural entity called Jharkhand estabilished before the period of Magadha Empire. During the Mughal period , the Jharkhand area was known as kukara. After the year 1765, it came under the conrol of British Empire and became formally known under its present Title of Jharkhand (The Land of Forests). The state of Jharkhand considered to be a natural place for Tribal communities, who have been given the status of Scheduled Tribes in the Indian Consitition. Khadia, Santal, Munda, Ho, Oraon, Asura, Birjia, Pahadia, etc are prominent and responsible for  making the forest of Jharkhand clean and cultivable and  habitable to human is given to these tribals. 





CULTURE of JHARKHAND


Jharkhand is a state blend with various tribal cultures, most of the people are influenced by Buddhism and Jainism, the Mughals and Hindu kings. Every communities followed their different cultures according to their believes, living styles, rituals, dance, music, languages and literature. The Official Language of the state is Hindi and also one of the most spoken language of the state.The other regional languages are Bengali, Angika, Kurukh, Mundari and Ho.
The cultural dress of the Jharkhand is Saree and Blouse and wear gold and silver Ornaments. The men wear Kurta - pyjama or Dhoti. The popular dance of Jharkhand are Hunta Dance, Mundari Dance, Jitia , Mardani Jhumar and Danga.

1. SARHUL.


Sarhul is one of the  most popular festival celebrated in the  region of Chotanagpur in Jharkhand. It is the festival of flowers celebrated during the spring season. On this day people sing and dance when the Saal trees obtained new flowers on their branches. The Gods are worshipped with Saal flowers. The priest of the village fast for some days and take 3 earthen pots and fill water in them and the next day they observe the water level of the pots. If the level is decreased they predict that there would be less rain or femine and if the level is constant means there would be good rain.



2. KARAM.


Karam is the festival celebrated by the Baiga, Oraon, Majhwar Tribes of Jharkhand. The festival is the worship of Karam Devta ( The God of Power and Youthness). Karam Festuval is celebrated on the 11th moon in the month of Bhadra. On this day villagers go to the jungle and gather woods and flowers, fruits for the pooja of the God Karam. People dance and sing in groups in the sound of drum beats. Tis festival brings joy and happiness in the people's hearts.



3. MAKAR or TUSU  PARAB. 


This festival is also one of the most popular festival celebrated in the Tama, Raidih and Bundu region of the Jharkhand. This festival has the history all through the Independence Movement of India. It is the harvest fest held in the winter season. On this day  unmarried girls ornaments with bamboo framing and coloured papers then present it to close by rivers. The festival has an  enormous compilations of  pleasent songs full of taste and life.


4. ROHINI.


Rohini is the most famous festival in the Jharkhand region and possibly the  1st festival of Jharkhand. This festival  is the farmer' s festival of propagating seeds in the feilds. While there is no song and dance performed on this day but some rituals are followed. This festival fill positivity in everyone's mind. there are some other festivals celebrated with the Rohini festival are Chitgomha, Rajsawala Ambavati.
