Assam is the state situated in the North - Eastern part of the India. The ancient name of the state Kamarupa. The state is known as the Land of Tea Gardens. Assam is the state known as the member of the Seven Sisters states of India. The state shared its border with Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh in the North, Mizoram and Tripura in the South, Nagaland and Manipur in the East, Bangladesh, West Bengal and Meghalaya in the West. Dispur, a suburb of Guwahati is the Capital of the Assam. Dibrugarh is the largest Tea Producer city of Tea as it is known as the Tea City Of India. The state is known for its Tea and Silk and Asia's first site for Oil Drilling. Assam is famous for its variety of Flora and Fauna as it is the home of One - Horned Rhino and Wild Water Buffalo and many more. The state holds the economy of about US$ 57 Billion which is the 17th largest GDP in India with Per Capita Income of about US$ 1,700.

HISTORY
History of Assam is very unique as Assam was ruled by various Dynasties like Pala, Koch and Kachari. These Dynasties ruled over Assam for various years until the Ahom people came in the 13th century. In 15th century, Ahom was in the dominance and after two centuries they defeated the Koch, Kochari and the other small rulers and gai control over the Assam. Later the Ahom was defeated by the warriors of Myanmar.
After the British came into dominance, the Treaty of Yandabo was signed between Myanmar and the British Government in 1826. Assam became the part of the British India. The British govt appointed the Governor General in the Assam and in 1842 the whole Brahmaputra valley was in the control of British rule. With the long period of British rule, India got Independence from the British rule. In 1950, Assam became the Constituent State of Republic India.

Assam is counted in one of those states who preserved its cultural and traditional values. The state is the mixture of various racial stokes like Mongoloids, Indo - Burmese, Indo - Iranian and Aryans. The people of the state known as Asomiya.
