Rajasthan is a state situated in the Northwestern part of India, known as "The Royal land of India". It is the largest state of India. Jaipur is the Capital and the largest city of the state. The state covers the area of  342,239 square kilometers and holds about 10.4 percent of total geographical area of the country. Rajasthan shared its border with Pakistan. Rajasthan was formed on 30 March 1949, founded by Mohanlal Sukhadia who is popularly known as the Father of Modern Rajasthan.


Religions followed in Rajasthan

Most of the people followed Hinduism, worship of Brahma, Shiva, Shakti, Vishnu, and other gods and goddesses. Nathdwara is an important religious centre for the Vallabhacharya sect of Krishna followers. There are also followers of the Arya Samaj, a reforming sect of modern Hinduism, as well as other forms of that religion. 
Islam is the second largest religious community of the state expanded in Rajasthan with the conquest of Ajmer by Muslim invaders in the late twelfth century. Khwajah Muin-ud-Din Chishti, the Muslim missionary, had his headquarters at Ajmer, and Muslim traders, craftsmen, and soldiers settled there. The Dadupanthi forms another important religious sect the followers of Dadu (d. 1603), who preached the equality of all men, strict vegetarianism, total abstinence from intoxicating liquor, and lifelong celibacy.

 Rajasthan is popular for its rich variety of culture which reflects the artistic ancient Indian way of life. In Rajasthan, we found the variety of folk music and dance with its own distinct style is a part of cultural tradition of Rajasthan.The traditional dance of Rajasthan is Ghoomar, originated from Udaipur and Kalabeliya, originated from Jaisalmer. These dance forms are popular at worldwide. The traditional music of Rajasthan is Kathputli, Bhopa, Chang etc which shows the traditional value of the Royal state of Rajasthan.

1. Jaipur.

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan popularly known as the Pink City. This city owned the Golden Triangle Tourists Circuit and recently declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jaipur is the most visited city of Rajasthan and has many famous Forts and Palaces.

There are many places to explore when you visit "The Pink City" Jaipur are:-

Rajasthan is famous for its variety of food which gives you an unforgettable taste and reminds the traditional culture. So lets discuss about some famous food of Rajasthan.


1. Dal Baati Churma.

Dal Baati Churma is the most famous and the signature dish of the Rajasthan. This dish has its unique flavour also the preparation process of this dish is unique. The Baati is the hard bread cooked in the desert area and its require hardly any water for its preparation. Dal is made up of lentils and churma is a mixture of ground wheats, crushed in ghee. Whenever you visit Rajasthan, must explore this dish. 


2. Gatte Ki Sabji.

Gatte ki sabji is the popular dish of Rajasthan and found in every corner of the state. This dish is one of the most cooked dish in every house of the state and gives you an ultimate taste. For making this dish you don't need any fresh vegetables. The curry is made with gram flour dumplings and gravy is made of buttermilk, tomatoes and spices and served with roties. 


3. Ker Sangri.

It is the most popular Rajasthani dish. Ker is wild berry which is tangy and peppery in taste while Sangri is a long beans grow in the desert area of Jaisalmer and Barmer. Legends said that long years ago, there was the femine in Rajasthan so villagers found this beans and cooked it with oil as this dish is cooked without water. They ate this dish with bajre ki roti. Now this diah is cooked in buttermilk and one of the most famous dish of the Rajasthan. 


4. Ghevar.

Ghevar is the most popular sweet dish of Rajasthan.A special sweet dessert from Jaipur that is essentially a dish made from flour, soaked in ghee, milk and topped with sliced almonds. This sweet dish has a crunchy texture and is made in a mould. There are varieties of Ghevar that can be prepared from a plain, mawa Ghevar and malai Ghevar. Whenever you visit the state must try Ghevar. 



Popular Festivals of Rajasthan

Rajasthan has a variety of festivals which celebrated with joy and happiness. So lets discuss about the famous festivals of Rajasthan. 


1. Rajasthan International Folk festival.

Rajasthan International folk Festival or RIFF is celebrated in the city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan every year. It is celebrated on Sharad Purnima with are strenght of 200 artists in Mehrangarh fort. It is the most popular festival of Rajasthan where people of different states and all over the world came to show their talent and creativity. You can be a part of many fares and exhibitions during this festival. 


2. Pushkar Camel Fair.

Pushkar camel fair is one of the most famous festival celebrated every year in Pushkar city of Rajasthan. It is celebrated in the month of October and November. People from all over the world is witnessed to this festival. This festival consist of five long days. The camel race is tha major attraction of this festival. This festival brings joy and excitement in everyone's heart. 

3. Mewar Festival.

Mewar Festival is the famous festival celebrated in the Udaipur of Rajasthan every year in spring season. This festival is celebrated to know about the Rajputana culture. People who interested are welcomed to attend the festival. The whole city is decorated with lights. The women dressed up like lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. The festival is celebrated on the pichola lake. The beauty of the festival can't define in words. It is the festival of joy and happiness. 


4. Mount Abu Summer Festival.

Mount Abu Summer festival is popular festival celebrated in Mount Abu, the only hill station in Rajasthan. It is celebrated in the month of May every year and the duration of the festival is three days. The folk dance and music performance are the major highlights of the festival. Various competition held during the festival. The whole city is decorated with light and this festival brings joy and happiness in everyone's mind. Whenever you visit Rajasthan at the time of May, must participate in the festival.
